Our Company has made a commitment to follow the guidelines and principles of the USGBC’s program- Leed for Homes. People often ask me “How did you decide to do this?”
In December of 2006 we set out to design and build a home that would encompass all of the best principles, standards and practices that our 20 plus years of construction experience had taught us. At the time, we did not know the mission would evolve to include the goal of building a home - Leed Certified. It all just came together as only the purest of good ideas can- naturally.
What we said was “ We always strive to excel in the mechanics, as well as the aesthetics of our building process. What we need is a way to document and verify the success and validity of our efforts”. As I reviewed the requirements of the then- Leed for Homes Pilot program I realized that not only could we strive to accomplish the highest level of certification - Leed Platinum- we could use our passion, desire and knowledge to push our goals beyond the respectable efforts of the Leed for homes program.
Simply put, my interpretation, or what this means to me- It’s the concept of placing the emphasis on the mechanics of the building process. To me, truly great aesthetics are not only completely dependent upon truly great mechanics, but useless without them.
